Pondering much across many boundaries

This blog is available to the public, but is not intended for general consumption. It is here that I intend to reflect while writing on a range of questions or ideas and to pursue threads of meaning through inquiries or research. I intend to do so in ways that are not limited or delimited by academic disciplines, by social barriers or by intellectual conventions. This blog is for me, for my own intellectual engagement. It will serve my own learning, my personal sense of curiosity and cognitive adventure. It is my hope that over time some of the connections that I’m trying to make or the complexities that I’m trying to understand more fully will have some compelling interest for others and that maybe (Who knows?) my pursuit of interconnections and complexities will prove helpful or productive in some way. My strong sense of things is that nearly everything has gone awry in our world. The many entrenched ways of proceeding, of doing business, of valuing things, of exploiting available resources or of communicating within and among communities have focused our attentions and our intellectuals and our social norms in ways that don’t allow us to see or imagine the best outcomes possible for all. My hope is that I will be able to gather evidence and construct arguments that will prove helpful for improved understanding, for easier and more effective cooperation and collective action, for increased compassion and solidarity and for a significant and helpful reimagining of the universe and leading to a new and more balanced sense of humankind’s place in the natural world.

Radical change for the better is necessary. Or, to echo Albert Einstein:

We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if mankind is to survive.

This blog is intended as my personal attempt to help “a substantially new manner of thinking” emerge.
